The problem

Something broke along the way

We grew up loving technology. The thrill of unboxing something new, the joy of discovery, the feeling that anything was possible. But somewhere along the way, that magic disappeared.

01

You used to own things

Remember buying software once and owning it forever? Now you only pay for "access." Stop paying, and you lose everything. Your photos, your documents, all held hostage behind a monthly fee.

02

The weird disappeared

Companies used to build funky, weird devices: spinning phones, transparent Game Boys, the Nintendo DS. They targeted niche groups who loved something different. Today, to maximize profit, every company targets everyone.

Edges got sanded off

To appeal to everyone from your grandma to a pro gamer, companies "sand off the edges." The result? Every phone is a black rectangle. Every car looks like a Tesla. Every app feels the same.

Progress became invisible

Tech used to be exciting because you could see the difference. Now improvements are invisible: just slightly faster processors, marginally better cameras. It feels like nothing is changing, even when it is.

Our response

We're building software with a soul

That's why we started oky. To bring back the joy, the personality, the fun. To build tools that feel like they were made by humans, for humans.
